Xonotic is a fast paced free, open-source first person shooter licensed under the GNU General Public License. Xonotic places focus on community involvement as its principal driving force and structures itself to respect that. The aim of Xonotic is to become the best possible open-source FPS of its kind.

It looks so similar to nexuiz 2 years ago, it is unbelievable

I don`t know about 2 years ago but Xonotic has more "eye-candy" style in it than Nexuiz with plenty of changes. This means that the team behind it is working to prove that open source can produce something really really good.
