It is the year 2084. You control a secret organisation charged with defending Earth from a brutal alien enemy. Build up your bases, prepare your team, and dive head-first into the fast and flowing turn-based combat.
UFO: ALIEN INVASION is a squad-based tactical strategy game in the tradition of the old X-COM PC games, but with a twist. Our game combines military realism with hard science-fiction and the weirdness of an alien invasion. The carefully constructed turn-based system gives you pin-point control of your squad while maintaining a sense of pace and danger.

Great remake of a classic
It's like XCOM: UFO Defense, but in actual 3D. The aliens and guns may have different names, but it's still the same game at heart. You can tell the creators were huge fans of the original.
There are still some issues to work around [I play from the git repo] such as crashing often when you restart a scenario, and issues related to the GL display--some things glow at startup until someone shoots an energy weapon. There were a couple times I shot and killed my own guy because the line-of-sight was green [i.e. not blocked] but it obviously wasn't. Also, the hospitals seem to heal too slowly, but that can be avoided by just using a medikit in the scenario.
Despite its few shortcomings, it's an awesome game, very playable and familiar and something you can get lost in for hours at a time.
When it works, its a great game then
