rufas' cube

rufas' cube

Alert! This is NOT another Rubic's cube. It's a whole new kind of puzzle. A 3x3x3 arrangement of cubelets that looks like a rubic's cube but works differently. The center cube is missing which allows sliding permutations. The goal, after a randomization, is to restore the original ordering of the cubelets using color or alphabetic cues. Written in C++, this code compiles and runs on either OS-X or GNU/Linux. Three alternate "skins" are available as shown in the screenshots, one of which represents the "iQube" whose goal is to invert the color from green to red. Now, improved function on laptops; runs on OS-X Retina displays too.

Choice of two easy build systems that allow anyone with OS-X or Linux and GCC to recompile; but first try the delivered exes. Note for Mac users: first open a terminal; then initiate game by typing "rufascube_osx".

See RufasAda for a version of this same puzzle game written completely in the Ada language.

Difference between Rufas' cube and RufasAda?

Whats the difference to ?

The essential difference is just that this version is written in Ada. So it may be one of the few Ada examples that use "modern" OpenGL that contain all the pieces to actually compile and run on both OS-X and Linux.

But it's the same game, isn't it? So we could merge them?

Yes, I'd like to merge them. Also Seven and SevenAda.
