Rigs of Rods ("RoR") is an amateur video game, where you can drive trucks, cars and other heavy machinery, operate cranes, fly airplanes and sail boats in an open environment. Most of the fun in RoR comes from its innovative and realistic physics engine that simulates the flexibility and deformation of bodies, chassis and wheels under the stress they bear.

Hi,How can I get Rigs of

Hi,

How can I get Rigs of Rods to work on Ubuntu Linux?

I have just had a go at a game called rigs of rods, now I have played it on windows and I see that it is very simple to setup. ( extract the files, press the config file and then play)
Now I have made the big leap and have started to use ubuntu as my primary os, and I want to be able to play RoR on that,
the only problem is I cant get it to work

I can extract the files but when i click on the config file and the play file i get asked what I want to do (run or run in terminal etc)

I dont know which one to press but when i press run it disappears and then does nothing,

I would really love it if someone can please tell me how to get the game Rigs of Rods working correctly on Ubuntu Linux

I have helped to maintain

I have helped to maintain their linux setup guide, but it was pretty complex to set up, and kind of hit and miss.
There was something about the EXACT order you had to follow in building and installing libs. If you missed something you had to start over.
I will try to compile it again and update the wiki if I manage to run it

The code compiles fine on

The code compiles fine on linux, so it doesn't matter on what OS it has been developed on.
The compiling is not trivial, you have to compile a number of dependencies as well. I have been updating myself the wiki on that matter just a few months ago.
In definitive, there are still linux players and maintainers to an extent.
