Death waits for us all, there’s no one who can avoid that. Nevertheless, life goes on and the world keeps moving.
But what of those who are thrust into the position of being the ones waiting for death, unable to participate in the moving, living world?
The 7th floor, the hospice. In that ward, Yuu and Setsumi meet. One, a college student only recently thrust into the life of a long-term hospital patient. The other, so used to the detached life of a hospital patient that she rarely shows emotion, or even interest in life.
With nowhere else that they could go, nothing else to do but watch television in the lounge, the only thing that moves are the days. There, their journey begins…

Narcissu [Web Edition]
A touching story of two hospice residents who find solace in each others company, in their otherwise bland, repetitive world.
The basic artwork leaves much of the imagery to the readers mind, but don't take that as a negative. The narrative kept me hooked from beginning to end. Think of this as more on the side of 'novel' than 'visual'.
The novel is quite short, it can be finished in one sitting over a few hours.
Depressing? Quite.
But this is well worth the read as its a very moving story and personally one of my favorites.
One of the best visual novels out there
It hardly qualifies as a game, of course, being just what's advertised: a visual novel.
Yet it features one of the most breathtaking stories in the genre, supported by nicely drawn - albeit slightly repetitive - artworks.
The soundtrack is spot on, and the various translations included (in the Narcissu -2nd- version at least) ensure you'll find something that fits your need: either terse and close in spirit or more literate and slightly away from the original.
What's not to like about this unless you don't like to read? Not much really.
A beautiful, moving, slightly depressing must-read. :)
Not a game.
This is not a game. No interaction. Even though the story is not that bad, it was no fun watching it for hours.
