So close, yet so far away...
No AI, no campaign, no music prevent this project from becoming great anytime soon.
Their engine seems quite capable, it's no memory hog, the rendering is faithful and snappy.
But it doesn't offer you to play The Succession Wars or Price of Liberty. In fact it's basically restricted to multiplayer for the time being and the foreseeable future.
It doesn't mean you can't have fun with it, only that you're deprived from any and all solo fun you might have had.
To make things worse, trying it will spam you with a popup in combat saying "I removed the AI code. Because there are scammers who use this free project in their commercial purposes. For all the official binary releases will present my original version of AI. So are you able to make their version of AI" (sic)... WTFLOL?
Keep away from this one if you can find HOMMIII.
By the way, it`s OpenSource!
The game engine is under GNU GPL, check it please and change the mark in description. Proof
Native Artwork
The source code is great, but for full OpenSource game experience it would be great to create a new artwork (nevermind pixel or smooth). Are there artists among us?
Not worth it
I disagree. I want to play HOMM not a disgusting feature warped look alike.
This is what I want whether it is illegal or half legal or full legal.
Recreating all of HoMM2
Recreating all of HoMM2 artwork would require a lot of work, so I doubt if it is possible.
