Eternal Lands

Eternal Lands

Release
Version:
1.9.3
Released:
14 February 2012

Eternal Lands first went online in February of 2003. At that time all you could do was sit down and walk around exploring maps. It wasn't until about 6 months later that fighting and some more skills were implemented. Since then the project has grown a lot and has been lucky enough to find some great volunteers to help us out in many areas. MMORPG's are never truly complete, so there will always be new things added for as long as the game is online! The game will always be free to play.

walking

To walk, one uses the mouse and clicks on a patch of open ground. However, you do not walk to where you click - you most often take off in a southerly direction, regardless of where or what you click. Poor show, I say.

I have tried this game a few

I have tried this game a few years ago and I hated it.

Now the game is almost complete, and things have changed a lot.

There are 2 options to solve the walking bug under the video tab. (are you on ATI?)
Still, I have the impression that most of the walking is done through the map.

I'll play it a little further, to see if it is different at all from Runescape

Boring to tears

The concepts of the game are nice but unfortunately you have to do
tons of click and stay hours behind the screen
because the events there dont allow you to quit your keyboard
and screen.

What is the interest of harvesting minerals or flowers with the
harassing events forcing you to stay and click for hours and hours?
Moreover you need to harvest the same thing many times
(harvest, full, go back to storage,
re-harvest, re-full, re-gobacktostorage and then again
re-re-harvest, re-re-full, re-re-gobacktostorage ...)

Harvest, build, click, click and click again until you get bored ...
Some maps are missing. Some areas are full of clicking
people for a while (some reminds me those working hard
like in most big cities of the world but here we are in a game).
Mobs spawn in known places. Many quests are known
(with exactly what to do and where to go).

The good thing is that with EL, players do not need to think a lot,
they just have to behave like bots.

You can do serious work while

You can do serious work while playing eternal lands, because some things in game (harvesting, manufacturing)
require little interaction.

Fighting and a couple of other things require you to play actively.
I think the game is much fun. Especially when you have work
to do but need a distraction every now and then.
