So, the single-click-install-for-ubuntu installs 'freedoom' project, but that is only a WAD data file. How to play that ? What to install next to play it ? Recommended are 'prboom' or 'doom-engine', but which to use ?
So I installed 'prboom', and now it looks better, that's something that can be played. So I run it and get hangup in few seconds. What now ? So I google for solution, and I find that on Ubuntu Hardy it just happends. One fix is to install 'timidity' MIDI music package, other is to play without sounds with "prboom -nosound". ( https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/prboom/+bug/139955 )
This should be added to installation information.
Which doom engine do you use ? prboom or something else ?
There are prebuilt BOR Ubuntu packages found on the web, but I would recommend you to use OpenBOR (at least it works better on my machine), you can get it at lavalit.com (registration required). You can compile OpenBOR yourself, or you can get prebuilt package (you'll find corresponding topic on lavalit.com);
However, if you really need original BOR engine for some reason, then you'll have to deal with Watcom C compiler and assembler.
Well, the term PC doesn't refer to a Windows PC only, but is rather a description of the hardware than the operating system. We just assume its a windows PC and in most cases we are right But in this case the terms Mac and PC are misleading and it should rather reference the OS than the Hardware. Changed.
Heh, I find the blurb rather entertaining.. "For Mac and PC!" on a linux games site (yes I know it has a port, but the blurb should be updated to reflect that )
Wow, this is surely great game ! Simple, small, yet very catchy. Idea is simple, gameplay is very repetitive, but yet I played it already for few hours and I plan to play it alot more ! (Currently on at level 21).
Good to relieve stres, easy to install (ubuntu), easy to play, and has nice graphics.

Yes, Kobo is great game, but at the higher levels it becomes _really_ difficult (I was stuck at ~40-45th level)
