During this period the “My PlayCatan” section on www.playcatan.com will be unreachable. In addition to that it will be impossible to play our browser games. (Unfinished browser games can be resumed after the maintenance.) The COW and Forum login will be affected as well.

A small update is available for the Rivals for Catan Deck Editor of the Rivals for Catan Tournament Game. With immediate effect, the new version 1.1 is available on our download page. The display duration of the tooltips and the handling of the deck names when saving have been improved.

On Sundy, May 20th 2012, the 2nd Catan Single League Cup will be played. The tournament starts at 2:00 p.m. CET.

Only Base Version will be played. We will play knockout system. This means 3 player will play a game and only the winner of this game is in the next round. The other both players are eliminated from the tournament.

For the first time an international city has reached the top position. Congratulations Katimavik Bay! Close behind followed Schafhausen again on the 2nd place. Münzweiler took third place this time. Bergamon, Steinfurt and Siedlingen on the following ranks have done very well. Congratulations to all cities on their achievement!

Tomorrow at 10 a.m. CET, the 6th game period starts, and summer will come to the Catan Online World. Therefore the server will be offline for 10 minutes. All games can be continued after that. All titles obtained can be viewed in the Library as of tomorrow.

Starting with the new game period, certain US states will be assigned to different COW cities, as follows:

Idaho and Utah (currently assigned to Pacifica) to Conestoga Creek
and
District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia (currently assigned to Port Niagara) to Settler's Gate.

It has come to our attention that the latest AVG virus scanner reports the main CatanSuR.exe program from our game 'Catan - Cities and Knights' and CatanOnlinewelt.exe from the 'Catan Online World' client to be virus infected. However, this is not the case: This is a so-called 'false positive'.

Unexplored seas, hidden islands, and valuable treasures are the ingredients for one of the most popular Seafarers scenarios in the Catan Online World: 'Treasure Islands.'

Normally, only Standard or Plus Account holders can play this scenario, but for a short time, players with a Free Account will also be able to give it a try. From April 5 to 10 (beginning and ending upon server restart), you can settle and discover 'Treasure Islands' in the free area of the Catan Online World.

On Tuesday, April 10 at 12 noon CET the titles and achievements of the current game period are calculated and awarded. At that point, the current game period ends, and the 6th game period starts the day after. Here is some important information regarding this matter.

All eligible voters have the opportunity to cast their vote from Saturday, March 31st, 2012 - Sunday, April 8th, 2012.

Our new game for the Catan Online World will be activated on April 3. The full English version will be available from 11am CET. The game instructions are already available online. All Standard and Plus Account users will be able to access to this 3-4 player game.

On Friday, another survey regarding the Catan Online World starts. We kindly ask all Standard- and Plus-members to participate in the survey. Your answers will help us in improving the Catan Online World and the PlayCatan portal. The survey will be available for a little over 1 week. You can access the questions via the poll tool in your house or in the Hostel (click on the backpack and select "Current Poll"). The survey starts on Friday morning, March 23rd, and lasts until Monday morning, April 2nd.

'The Struggle for Catan,' an entertaining game for 3-4 players, will soon be available for Standard Account and Plus Account users. The game had already been announced a while ago, but unfortunately development was delayed. Now, however, this new Catan Online Word game is almost ready for launch and currently being tested.

The final release date will be announced shortly. Meanwhile, if you want to take a peek at the game rules - we recommend the Prof. Easy tutorial. The new game will have its own monthly list and ELO list.

Hello Catan friends. The Catan Single League starts on 01.04.2012 with the next round (season 2012/Q2).

Playing is possible for everybody, both plus members of playcatan.com (mixed league with scenarios from Cities & Knights and Seafarers) and non-plus members (base league with Base Game only). All information can be found on www.catansingleleague.com. Please read the rules on this site.

The registration is possible from now on till March 24, 2012. If you have a question, please sent an e-mail to catan@kneis.net. Please register only, if you are sure you will play the entire season (3 months).

The mayoral election for the 6th gaming period of COW 3 will be from March 31th -  April 8th. All users with a plus account have the opporunity to nominate candidates in the city domain until March 17th. On Thursday, March 3 a new function will be implemented that allows you to export any chart inside the Catan Online World as a CSV file. You will then be able to import these files into a spreadsheet program such as Excel. The function can be accessed by right-clicking on the desired chart. To make the function fully operable a re-login is necessary.

The first 'The Rivals for Catan' Marathon in the Catan Online World will take place from March 2 (10 a.m. CET) to March 5 (10 a.m. CET). Each day, two different Theme Sets will be available:

Friday: The Era of Gold / The Era of Barbarians
Saturday: The Era of Progress and / The Era of Intrigue
Sunday: The Era of Merchant Princes / The Era of Turmoil

At the suggestion of our community, a special scoring system was introduced for the 'Rivals' Marathon. The points for the single score and the city score are equal to the victory points obtained in the game (only the points necessary for winning the game are counted). In addition, the winner receives a bonus of 5 points.

The 10th Catan Single Player Championship 2012 (a community-organized tournament) starts on April 7. You can register between February 27 and March 23 by sending a private message to the user Einzel-CM. The organizers request you to read the rules on their homepage before registration.

To fix a display problem of the cities' list in the town hall the server will be restarted at 2pm CET. All games in the tavern will be saved and can be continued afterwards. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding!

On Thursday, February 02 we will be conducting server maintenance on the PlayCatan servers. This will take place at the time of the regular daily COW server restart, that is 2:00 a.m. Pacific or 5:00 a.m. Eastern. The maintenance should require at most 2 hours - we hope that it will be finished slightly faster.

During this period the “My PlayCatan” section on www.playcatan.com will be unreachable. In addition to that it will be impossible to play our browser games. The COW and Forum login will be affected as well: After the server restart, nobody will be able to log into the COW or the Forum. Previous Forum logins will persist during the maintenance.

UPDATE: Games that are started before the maintenance can not be resumed afterwards.
