Happy Holidays from Supergiant!
As the year (perhaps the WORLD?!) draws to a close, we wanted to recap some of the latest news on what’s happening with Bastion and with us at Supergiant.
Bastion Announcer Pack for Dota 2
We’re very happy to reveal the Bastion Announcer Pack for Dota 2, Valve’s popular and incredibly deep team-based action strategy game!
Featuring more than 700 original lines of voiceover delivered by the voice of Bastion’s narrator, Logan Cunningham, the Bastion Announcer Pack for Dota 2 puts our special spin on one of the most complex and engaging competitive games we’ve ever played. A couple of us on team are huge fans of Dota 2 (the original DotA mod for Warcraft III is one of Supergiant cofounder Amir Rao’s all-time favorite games) so it was a real treat to contribute something to this game and collaborate with the amazing team at Valve. If you’d like to know more about Dota 2, visit the official web site.
Bastion for a Buck + More Stuff on Sale
For a limited time, Bastion is just $0.99 on the App Store! For good measure, this latest version of Bastion was just named iOS Game of the Year on Metacritic.com. Note: The iOS version of Bastion requires an iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch 5th generation, or iPad 2 or newer.
Also, the Steam version of Bastion is on sale as part of the Steam Holiday Sale.
Lastly, all Bastion merchandise in our online store is 20% off through the end of the year, including our new Scumbag Plushie.
Season’s Greetings from Supergiant
From all of us at Supergiant, we wish you a happy and safe holiday season, and best wishes for the year to come. Jen put the sentiment in the form of a wallpaper-sized visual here:

Xmas Assault!
Knights new version coming soon…
Just a quick Knights update here. I have been away from Knights for a while (sorry about that) but I do have a bit of spare time over Christmas and I intend to use it to make a new Knights release.
The plan is to include the following features (the numbers refer to Trac):
- Implement the “Monster Proposal“
- #215 – Add GetRespawnFunction to Lua API
- #203 – Error message or warning if Lua “prefix” forgotten
- #206 – Update manual to refer to new Boost version
- #164 – Ability to cycle each observer window independently
Hopefully I can get this done fairly quickly, as I know some people on the forum have been waiting for a new release for some time now…
After that I’d ideally like to get the map editor up and running again, as this would complement the Knights Lua scripting features nicely. This could really open the door for people to make new rooms or maybe even entire custom maps for Knights. That will be a task for next year though

Hipoonios gave Sqrxz 2 on Amiga Classic a go and here is his Longplay-Video. The game plays like butter, doesn’t it? :)
Alpha 29 released
The Pioneer development team are pleased to announce the release of Pioneer Alpha 29. This month we have a rewrite of the infoview, including per-mission screens and player name/face customiisations. Also we have over a hundred new factions with varying government types, and sector map updates to view them. Full changelog and builds for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux (32 & 64-bit) are available from the download page.
Sqrxz 3 v1.05 for Windows, Ubuntu (32/64), Wiz and PSP
Another bunch of free minutes and the last month announced Sqrxz 3 v1.05 is tested, verified and packed for public release. Thanks Thor!
Changes:

* scaling options changes now take effect on the fly and do not require a restart (Thanks Yannick!)

Visit the Sqrxz 3 downloads for the release file!
Sqrxz 2 Amiga OCS v1.0 is now out!
Yesterday Sqrxz 2 Amiga OCS (click for download-section) by Retroguru had it’s premiere release at the fourth Viennese Retro-Market (4. Wiener Retro-Börse).
Sqrxz 2 Amiga OCS is served in three different versions: Floppy Disk Image, HD-Install, CD Image (for CDTV and CD32)!
Amiga Team:
* Rodolphe Boixel (Main Code)
* Frank Wille (Assembler recoding)
* Simon Butler (Graphics)
* Alexander Wiklund (Music)
* Jane Mumford (Additional Graphics)
* Virgile Metier (Graphics adjustment to meet the Amiga limitations)
* Shahzad Sahaib (Project Management & Leveldesign)
We divided 50 floppy disks of Sqrxz 2 amongst the visitors and 17 floppy disks of Sqrxz 1, which makes a total of 67 floppy disks. Our Retroguru table with an Amiga 500 (provided by Mark!) allowed everyone to test the game live. Most people failed within the first three screens, but this was to be expected. Interestingly a very young girl managed to play past the half of the first level, which was hardly achieved by any other player.
Next possibility to catch a real floppy disk with the game is tUM 2012.
Feedback and donations are welcome anytime :) Please kindly understand that it’s not possible for us to send out the game on floppy disk via snail mail. It just eats too much money and time.
Some GearHead Updates
It’s been a while, but here are some updates:
- Work continues on the GearHead Python conversion. You can see the forum and the design doc for recent developments.
- This site has been updated with the latest WordPress, which should hopefully put an end to the troubles we’ve been having.
- Mischa’s Story will continue in the new year with a visit to the Rishiri Dominion’s high tech asteroid prison. Also, the first chapters of are being prepared for release as free ebooks, so you’ll be able to catch up with what’s happened so far and learn some new things about the L5 region.
Sqrxz 1 Amiga OCS v1.2 is out!
We are happy to announce Sqrxz Amiga OCS v1.2 – please go ahead and find it in our download section!
As many people mentioned the wish to play with a gamepad, Frank Wille spend a lot of efforts to make this possible. Furthermore we now offer a CDTV/CD32 image of the game.
Look forward for the release of Sqrxz 2 Amiga OCS v1.0 next week!
Skylands
Scaffold construction in Skylands
Sky island scenarios have always been among my favorites in the classic Clonk series because of both the freedom and the challenge they offer to the players. Now that basic settlement got a bit boring, it’s time for OpenClonk to get its first cooperative aerial scenario. In this scenario, you need to collect five parts of an airplane spread out among several of the distant sky islands and bring them back to the construction site.
That will be a tough challenge though, as a new feature has been added for this map. It’s storming and the storm is certainly strong enough to blow poor Clonks off the islands if they aren’t careful!
Wind is simulated to flow around obstacles, so it can be blocked with wooden constructions (see screenshots). But be careful not to block the windmill, or your buildings will be out of power. Also, the more you block the wind off, the stronger it will blow above and below your obstacle.
Those who are daring to try out the alpha version can checkout the current development branch and find Skylands in the experimental scenario folder.
