Ok, so we all know Linux people are big gamers and we also all know that Linux peeps are awesome as a community. In fact, so awesome that we love helping each other out wherever possible, a bit of promotion here and there, helping with trouble shooting, bug reporting and so on… Well here’s something to get behind in a big way, and really show people what the Linux community is all about. ConTessa, the online free gaming convention created by women for everyone. We’ve all heard the complaints that we don’t have enough women involved in general geek activities and the wider tech community. ‘Seyken: Crystal Kingdom’ is created by a small group of classic jrpg fans and takes you back to the time when you sat in front of a TV and had to plug in a game cartridge into a home console in order to start up your favorite fantasy game. If you were lucky, you may have been sitting there with a few friends who joined the adventure using the remaining free game controller ports. We’ll see how this plays out soon, because the community gave ‘Seyken: Crystal Kingdom’ the greenlight on steam!
The few guys at Drunken Lizard Games are making good progress with ‘No Heroes‘. The gameplay looks like a mixture of Battlefield, Call of Duty and Mirrors Edge; free-running through a destructible environment while shooting enemies using your red-dot scoped assault rifle…. looks appealing to me. The distinctive gameplay received support from the steam community and got greenlight, so is written on facebook...Full article: Shooter ‘No Heroes’ is Greenlight!

I have to admit that we are a bit slow on reporting the news on FOSS gaming projects with we actually host ourselves via the freegamedev.net forums. Valyria Tear is sadly no exception, and their new 0.6.0 release has been out a few days already. Sorry to all whom this may concern. For those not in the loop, Valyria Tear is based on the engine of Hero of Allacrost and aims to be an all FOSS jRPG. To give you a better idea of the game-play, here is a (slightly older) cool video of it done by some Linux enthusiasts:(Thanks also to...Full article: Valyria Tear 0.6.0 released
Larian Studios announces ‘Divinity: Original Sin‘ slides to 28 February 2014. The RPG was scheduled for release this fall. However the studio needs extra time to build the new options and features after a successful Kickstarter campaign.
We are very determined to implement all the extra features gained through stretch goals the way they should be implemented, which essentially means that we want to incorporate them in the story, the world and the gameplay mechanics.
A terrifying psychological horror game inspired by the developer’s battle with mental illness. Explore nightmares! Branching narrative! Is what ’Neverending Nightmares‘ is about. The closing hours on kickstarter were tentious due an pledge issue nearly missing funding, and additional support from Ouya.
Neverending Nightmares is funded! All the issues are resolved. If you haven’t backed yet, we still have few more hours: http://kck.st/19WHHDH ...

Yohann has also contributed to other projects such as Children of Solarus and Mana. His labour of love is Valyria Tear.
